We're Going to Haiti!

It's official. I mentioned this in a few posts, but Michael and I are definitely going on a missions trip to Haiti this summer. We had our first meeting with the group we are going with last night, and I am really excited about what we're going to be doing while we are there. There's still so much to be done in Haiti and us being there will be just a small help, but hopefully the Lord can use us in big ways.

This will be Michael and I's first mission trip together (he's been on 3 other trips) and this will be my first missions trip ever. I am sure we will have more of this to talk about in future blogs!!

Dates are June 5-12. Prayers are welcome, too!

Lucy Girl

We had a fun time home in Greensboro 2 weekends ago and got to spend some good quality time with the Flowers (we missed you Scott!) and the Beahms I (Chris Melissa and Lucy). Lucy is growing up so fast; its hard to believe she is already over 9 months old! She's scooting around and beginning to pull herself. Her little personality is pouring out!
Rachel is also getting SO big! I can't believe she is 2 1/2...I was in the hospital just hours after she was born!
Lisa is faithfully working out to P90X. I am so proud of her and am impressed because those are tough!! This is a cool shot of Bailey that Chris took with our camera! More pictures from the weekend home here.

The Sellers

Well, this is 2 weeks late exactly, but our friends and neighbor, Justin and Brandi Sellers, had their sweet baby boy on Monday, March 8! Brandi was in labor for 27 hours with NO medicine, which is such an admirable feat that I don't think I'd ever be able to do! It's been fun travelling with them through the pregnancy from the beginning and now on to new parents. Their dog, Jabba, is also learning how to adjust!

Cyrus Their first family photo!
Congratulations Sellers fam!

Free to Be Me

I just love the lyrics of this song Free to be Me by Francesca Battistelli- it’s from her My Paper Heart album. If you know me, you know I am clumsy, drop things, move too fast and get trapped by my horrible desire for perfection. God is perfection and I am not…I often need to be reminded of that and it actually is pretty freeing!

‘Cause I got a couple dents in my fender
Got a couple rips in my jeans
Try to fit the pieces together
But perfection is my enemy
On my own I'm so clumsy
But on Your shoulders I can see
I'm free to be me

When I was just a girl I thought I had it figured out
My life would turn out right, and I'd make it here somehow
But things don't always come that easy
And sometimes I would doubt

And you’re free to be you

Sometimes I believe that I can do anything
Yet other times I think I've got nothing good to bring
But You look at my heart and You tell me
That I've got all You seek
And it’s easy to believe

Party Turned Wedding

Last Saturday night Michael and I headed to Charlotte for what was supposed to be an engagement party for Hillary and Philip. Little did we know that we’d be attending their wedding instead! Setting a date has been quite the struggle for the couple; so in December/January they decided to turn the engagement party that their parents’ were throwing into their big day, unbeknownst to their guests. It was held at the eclectic Green Rice Gallery in the up and coming NoDa neighborhood of Charlotte.

Around 8pm, Philip’s dad took the microphone and thanked everyone for attending while reiterating how hard the “setting a date” process had been for them. He then announced that they had decided to end their engagement (with gasps from the audience)…to get married tonight (more gasps from the audience & this time it was joy)! It took a few minutes to assemble the chairs and get everyone in place, but we all stood to watch the couple get married in front of about 100 people. Their wedding party (who were all there) found out earlier that day but they were just as excited as us!

A few pictures from the night:

Our next wedding is CT and Hef's on April 24 in Shelby, NC...we are so excited to celebrate with them!

Pensacola

I am a little behind on posts...so much has been going on so I'll probably have a few posts this week.

I wanted to share a few pictures of my days last week in Pensacola, FL with Kristen, Ryan and Kaelyn. Kaelyn just turned 11 months and will be 1 year old next month...I can't believe it! I loved living life with the Windham's and seeing what daily life was like for Kristen. Now, when I call, I have a good idea if Kaelyn is eating or taking a nap! Ryan was studying very hard for a test (for flight school) and he passed it on Tuesday! We were so excited that we celebrated with Mellow Mushroom before I left. I love my dear cousin and look forward to the days when we are closer together again!

We were having a little photo shoot :)Love!I adore Kaelyn's little crinkled forehead here!

Kaelyn doesn't have any teeth yet, but she loved the feeling and taste of the apple in her mouth!

Caught Red Handed

I am down in Pensacola right now with Kristen, Ryan and baby Kaelyn. I just had to post these pictures because we were laughing so hard when it happened. Last night Kristen and I were making dinner and we could hear Kaelyn getting into something. When we turned around, this is what we saw: Clapping at her discovery:

Am I doing something wrong?Coast is clear!
